Last day in Italy; first day back.
Oh man. The "football" game yesterday was amazing. It was not a full scale riot, but more than anything we get North of the Rio . . . enough to get your blood flowing. The military police (carabinieri, sp?) were out in full force with riot gear.
The shouting.
The chanting.
The screaming.
The hugging after points.
The cursing at ball calls.
Roma victor! Rome won, and the spirit swept me up and I was excited like it was my hometown team. Actually, more excited than I ever got for my hometown team.

I am in a internet point in the Philadelphia airport, having recently arrived stateside. The department of homeland security should know me on a first name basis by now, since I have explained all of my travel and shown them my passport so many times. Security was tighter and longer than I have ever seen it. Lots of cameras, some more visible than others. I saw foreigners being fingerprinted. I am glad that I did not bring any food to this country . . . the agriculture lines were long and I got to skip those.
(I am also trying to get used to the US101 keyboard again . . . having typed on the European version for three weeks. I am surprised that my finger memory for the different keys, mostly shift+ and alt+ symbols, began to stick so quickly.)
My trip to Rome and greater Italy, now at an end, was wonderful. I am so glad that I was affored the opportunity, and will try to sieze the next one that comes along. I have a growing appetite to see the rest of the world.
I arrive in Louisville late tonight.
