Hath not a Jew hands? No, just Clockworld Orange.

A Pew report says Jordan tops the world with the most unfavorable views toward Jews (100%). Russia has the most favorable view of Christians (92%) while Turkey has the least favorable view of Christians (62% favorable). The Netherlands is the most tolerant, with highly favorable views of both Christians and Muslims. There is some sign of progress in Morocco, where favorable views of Al-Qaida fell from 49% in 2003 to 26% this year. Support for Osama bin Laden rose in Jordan, as did support for suicide bombers. Lebanon gave the most expected answers: 91% favorable views of Christians, 99% unfavorable views of Jews, and 2% favorable views of Al-Qaida.

In other news, a (cough)(corrupt)(cough) UN report lists Scotland the most violent country of the developed world, in terms of likelihood of being assaulted per capita. Scots are three times more likely to be assaulted than Americans, now comparable with such places as Rio or Johannesburg. Northern Ireland, with some irony, is the safest place in the developed world. Japan and Italy are still about ten times safer than the USA. Scots get drunk a lot. Kofi plans to buy his son another jet with the money he made off this report.

What do we make of these numbers, except a sharper, more clear view of the world? I'd like to buy the world a Coke!

Madness.

Is there a correlation between how the press covers the news and the peoples' attitudes?

There are "lies, damn lies, and statistics."
Bill Clinton claimed to have a lower teenage pregnancy rate (not personally), than ocurred in the 1950's. This was true, but in the 1950's most all of the pregnancies were in wedlock.

ya, second that, numbers can mean anything you want them to, especially averages. you have one gang war where a whole bunch of gangsters kill each other, and, whoops!, average goes up and you have the most violent city in the world. even though 99 percent of citizens lives in complete safety.

really, I can't imagine that scotland is more dangerous than costa rica, on real, day-to-day, personal security level. of course, I've never been there, but still. . .

whoops, that does say "developed world." I must say, I've been a little pre-occupied lately with the murders that have been taking place in my very undeveloped world. apologies.

I retract . . . I'd like to buy the world a Diet Coke.

Madness!
